Discovering the world of Minerals

The Mineralienhotel was born from the lifelong passion of Markus Klement, whose childhood fascination with minerals in the mountains of Natz grew into a collection of more than 1,500 specimens from 50 countries. His dedication shaped not only the collection but the very identity of the hotel, created together with his family as a place where hospitality and minerals belong together.

Take a sneak peek online at museum.mineralienhotel.com. Discover the story behind the minerals — their origins, their journey through nature, and the highlights that await you in our museum at the hotel.

A Collection Like No Other

Every corner of the hotel tells a story through minerals. From sparkling quartz clusters to the deep violet of amethyst druses, from delicate rose quartz to rare finds sourced in faraway lands, each piece has been carefully chosen by Markus over decades.

Our Highlight Piece: the 2,004 kg Rock Crystal

The highlight for many guests is the 2,000 kg rock crystal from "Uburanas Mine", in Bahia, Brazil that stands proudly in the lounge. This natural giant is not just the largest mineral in the house, it is also a symbol: a reminder of the beauty and power hidden in the earth, patiently formed over millions of years. Guests love to pause here, take photos, and simply marvel.

Minerals in Everyday Life

Unlike many collections, ours is not hidden behind museum glass. Instead, minerals are integrated into the very architecture and atmosphere of the Mineralienhotel.

Brixner Granite in the staircase connects the house to South Tyrol’s alpine rock formations. Local Serpentine stone provides natural grip and beauty around our spa and pools. Rock crystal lamps and amethyst druses radiate a gentle glow in the rooms and lounges.

This thoughtful design ensures that minerals are not just something to look at – they are something to live with. Guests feel surrounded by natural materials and the calm, grounding energy they bring.

Guided Tours with Markus

Several times a week, Markus personally invites guests on a tour through the collection. With enthusiasm and encyclopedic knowledge, he shares how minerals are formed, where they were found, and the adventures behind acquiring them. These tours are not lectures – they are stories, told with humor and warmth, that bring the minerals to life.

For children, it often feels like a treasure hunt. For collectors, it is a chance to deepen their knowledge. For everyone, it is a highlight of their stay – and a reminder that the Mineralienhotel is more than a place to sleep; it is a place to discover.

Why Minerals Matter Here

Minerals are the soul of the Mineralienhotel. They:

  • Connect us to the earth and its deep history.

  • Reflect the variety, beauty, and resilience of nature.

  • Inspire a sense of curiosity and wonder in everyone who encounters them.

  • Create an atmosphere of harmony that blends with the Dolomites outside our windows.

For us, minerals are not decoration – they are part of who we are. They influence the design of our house, the rhythm of our days, and the warmth of the welcome we extend to every guest.

At the Mineralienhotel, hospitality is shaped by minerals – making your stay not only comfortable but also unforgettable.
